Our Story
The journey began in 1981, when Rajammal Patti, like every loving grandmother, prepared murukku at home for her children. Using her own special recipes, she made around five varieties of murukku that soon became favorites among family and friends. As her snacks gained recognition for their unmatched taste and quality, she began catering for weddings, puberty ceremonies, and festive occasions. For nearly 18 years, the family prepared these delicacies from home. But as demand grew, customers encouraged them to open a shop—and so in 1999, with the support of her son, Kovilpatti Murukku Kadai was born.
What started with murukku gradually expanded to include 12 traditional sweets and snacks, from Murukku to Athirasam—all prepared with the same passion, authenticity, and commitment to quality. In 2005, a second branch was opened, with the business carried forward by the brothers, making it a true family-led enterprise. Through the years, the recipe crafted by Rajammal Patti has remained unchanged—no added preservatives, no compromise on taste—just pure tradition in every bite. Today, both outlets stand as pioneers in Kovilpatti, continuing to serve generations with the same love and authenticity that started it all.

From just 5 varieties to over 50, we have grown steadily and spread across Tamil Nadu. In 2016, we proudly began our journey in Chennai, starting with one shop and gradually expanding to multiple locations across the city. Through every step of growth, our promise has remained the same—uncompromised quality and authentic taste. All our snacks are prepared in pure groundnut oil. Following a unique concept, we freshly make and manufacture our snacks every day from morning until noon, and sales happen from 12 PM to 10 PM. This ensures that our shelves never carry old stock. In fact, by 9 PM, most of our items are already sold out—because freshness speaks for itself. Today, Kovilpatti Murukku Kadai continues to win both hearts and tummies, serving not just snacks, but memories made with love, care, and tradition. And as we grow, we remain committed to carrying forward the same authentic taste that Rajammal Patti once started in her humble kitchen.
